There are 2 different types of power used in appliances and homes, the first is AC. This is alternative current, and DC is direct current. We use AC power, this is because it can travel long distances unlike DC power which can only travel about 2 miles at a time. San Diego is wired in parallel, this is to prevent blackouts and multiple houses or areas going out all at once and instead only one out. An electrical grid is an interconnected network for delivering electricity from suppliers to consumers. It consists of generating stations that produce electrical power, high-voltage transmission lines that carry power from distant sources to demand centers, and distribution lines that connect individual customers. When solar power is used in homes, the extra power that the home doesn't need usually goes to the grid, a decision made by the homeowner. In return they usually receive credit or payment for it. Renewable energy Pros and Cons: Pros: Unlimited Supply, No water or air pollution
Cons: Reliability can be low, Might not be as cost efficient, Storage and backup are necessary
Nicholas Tesla was the man who created AC power and Thomas Edison was the man who created DC power. They had many conflicts when it came to which power is better, Edison was pushing and arguing against Tesla, and spreading lies on Tesla's AC power. AC power is what all homes use, but most or all appliances used in homes run off of DC power, you can see this if you have a computer or power block, and it will say AC to DC power converter.
