We studied Shakespeare's famous sonnets 18 and 130, both had different perspectives on love and how you can love someone for all there beauty and there flaws. After studying those sonnets and learning about how they are constructed we created our own with our camping groups during camping. I learned about how a sonnet must follow specific rules, and how those make a sonnet unique and structured to iambic pentameter. Iambic pentameter is a line of verse with five metrical feet, each consisting of a short or (unstressed) syllable followed by one long or (stressed) syllable.
Drafts:
Although only some minute changes were made from draft one to final here they are.
Reflection:
I had many struggles when writing my sonnet, the first was figuring out what I wanted to make it about. I eventually decided on pizza since it was my favorite food at the time. After figuring out what I was gonna be writing about I brain stormed a lot on what I was gonna write about in each quatrain. I decided on topics for the quatrains that I would be able to explain in poetic form. After doing all this for a long time, I began writing the actual sonnet. The actual writing of the sonnet didn't take me long since I had all this information already thought up and ready to go. I just let my mind run free with the different aspects of pizza I was writing about, and personifying the pizza into you. If I was too write another sonnet I would most likely try to find a topic more personal to me and something that I would feel more emotionally attached too instead of just a food.
